As part of the seven-point 100-day action plan initiated under the vision of the Chief Minister, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has undertaken a time-bound implementation of various administrative reforms. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde has been consistently reviewing the progress, ensuring that each department follows the planned and systematic execution of the directives.

ā€œA significant aspect of this initiative focuses on maintaining office cleanliness and enhancing operational efficiency. Department heads and office in-charges have been instructed to complete these activities by the end of March. Consequently, all departments are actively involved in sorting, disposing of, and preserving official records in accordance with existing regulations,ā€ a NMMC official said.

As part of this process, each department is scrutinizing its documents and files to determine their necessity. Unneeded papers are being discarded following prescribed guidelines, while essential records are being categorized into four groups: ā€˜A, B, C, and Dā€™ to ensure systematic archival and easy retrieval.

To oversee this process, special inspection committees have been formed under the guidance of the Municipal Commissioner. These committees are conducting regular visits to various departments to monitor the execution of the record management procedures.

Currently, the NMMC has successfully classified 1,50,471 files into the designated four categories, significantly improving administrative efficiency. To further streamline the process, the administration department recently organized a lecture by record management expert Satyajit Bade. This session helped standardize classification procedures and improve document handling consistency across all departments.

In addition to record classification, the corporation is implementing the six-bundle filing system for better document organization. Moreover, substantial efforts are being made to maintain cleanliness within office premises. Old and unused items are being systematically disposed of to free up space and improve workplace hygiene.

Enhancements are also being made in office infrastructure to improve public service. Waiting areas are being upgraded, access to clean drinking water is being ensured, restrooms are being maintained to high hygiene standards, and clear signage is being installed for better navigation. Office spaces are also being aesthetically enhanced to create a more pleasant and productive work environment.

Through this extensive drive, NMMC aims to transform its offices into well-organized, clean, and citizen-friendly spaces. The 100-day action plan is proving instrumental in modernizing municipal administration while fostering a more efficient and professional work culture.
