Amaravati, March 25, 2025: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced the launch of the ‘Zero Poverty – P4’ initiative, a platform designed to enable the wealthy to support the underprivileged. The program will be launched on Ugadi (Telugu New Year), and the CM reviewed its final structure at the Secretariat.

The Chief Minister emphasized that participation in P4 is entirely voluntary, and no one should feel obligated to contribute. NRIs can also take part, similar to the Janmabhoomi program from his previous tenure, which received strong public support. The platform is open to anyone willing to help, with the government’s role limited to connecting donors and beneficiaries. No additional financial assistance will be provided by the state.

CM Naidu stressed the importance of encouraging the affluent to come forward and contribute. He directed officials to ensure that beneficiary selection is error-free. Beneficiaries will be called ‘Bangaru Kutumbam’ (Golden Families), while donors will be referred to as ‘Margadarsi’ (Guides). The final list of beneficiaries will be decided transparently through Gram Sabhas and Ward Sabhas to avoid any disputes.

The Chief Minister clarified that P4 is separate from the government’s welfare schemes and is focused solely on uplifting the most disadvantaged sections of society. He instructed officials to ensure there is no public confusion regarding the program.

For the Ugadi launch event in Amaravati, arrangements will be made to bring at least one representative from each village and one bus from every constituency. In the first phase, 20 lakh families are poised to benefit from the initiative. The program will continue until Andhra Pradesh achieves the Zero Poverty goal by 2029.
