Mira-Bhayandar: The Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police has collaborated with the world-renowned organization -United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) to launch the “Bal-Raksha” a child friendly policing initiative aimed at effectively controlling crime against children.

The project was launched on Tuesday (25, March) at the MBVV headquarters in Mira Road in the presence of police commissioner- Madhukar Pandey, UNICEF (state chief) – Sanjay Singh, senior police officials, doctors, advocates, members of social organizations and distinguished citizens.

Apart from further strengthening departments dealing with child-related issues by providing technical expertise and skill development, the MBVV police have chalked an elaborate road map to facilitate special space at all police stations for children-in-distress and intensify efforts towards community policing.

Additionally, the thrust will be on to launch drives to create awareness about rights and protection of children. Acknowledging the importance of children as the future of the country, MBVV police chief Madhukar Pandey said, “We are committed to ensure the safety, well-being and all-round development of children.”

The project is part of a series of initiatives implemented by the MBVV police in accordance with the even-point agenda chalked out by chief minister-Devendra Fadnavis for bureaucrats which primarily focuses on streamlining government processes, ensuring office efficiency and improving the daily lives of citizens. Fadnavis had launched the 100-day action in January this year, which is being evaluated by the Quality Council of India (QCI).
