At least 18 people were killed and 19 others were injured in a fire between dry weather and strong winds in the southern regions of South Korea. Government officials gave this information on Wednesday. According to the Ministry of Security, more than 5,500 people were evacuated from their homes in Andong, neighboring Uinong and Sanchong Counties and Ulsan city, where the fire was the most horrific.
Officials from the city and other southeastern cities and towns ordered the residents to vacate their houses on Tuesday, as the fireworks struggled to extinguish many fire caused by dry winds, burning more than 43,000 acres of land and hundreds of structures, including 1,300 years old Buddhist temples, were destroyed.
