USCIRF demanded a ban on RAW: Alleging discrimination and atrocities against minorities in India, the US International Religious Freedom Commission (USCIRF), in its annual report, demanded a ban on India’s foreign intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (Raw) in the US. The Commission alleged that Raw had a role in the murder of Sikh separatists.
Serious allegations against Prime Minister Modi and BJP
The US Commission report tries to raise questions about religious freedom in India. It states that in 2024, there has been an increase in attacks and discrimination against religious minorities in India. The report also accused Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP of using abusive language and spreading rumors against Muslims and other religious minorities during last year’s elections.
Appeal to India to take concrete steps
Along with this, the US Commission appealed to the Government of India to take concrete steps to protect religious freedom and to prevent religious oppression. The Commission also questioned the Indian Citizenship Act, which is originally discriminatory by the United Nations. Apart from this, it was also criticized to abolish the special status of Kashmir.
