Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 28-year-old woman from Gwalior died after she received a bullet injury near her eyebrow at a rented house in the Tulsi Nagar area on Friday.
Police believed that a youth shot at the woman over an argument or while playing a prank during their party.
A case of murder has been registered by the police and a country-made pistol has been recovered from the spot. Two youths and a girl, who took the woman to the hospital and fled, were captured in the CCTV footage of the hospital.
No arrests have been made till the filing of the report. DCP (zone-2) Abhinay Vishwakarma informed Free Press that the deceased was identified as Bhawna Singh, a resident of Murar in Gwalior. She had come to the city recently to train as a makeup artist.
Police received information from the hospital that some youths had dropped a woman in an injured state at the hospital around 3 am. At that time one of the youths identified himself as Ashu Yadav.
Later, when the CCTV footage was examined two youths and a girl could be seen admitting Bhawna in the hospital. The suspects forgot the key of their rented house on the spot and the police were able to trace their house with the help of the key as the house address was mentioned on the key chain.
Some documents and the mobile phone of the woman were recovered from the crime scene. Liquor bottles, cigarette butts and blood stains were also found on the spot. The accused had tried to clean the spot after the incident. The exact circumstances under which the incident happened would be known only after the detention of the suspects. The house was taken on rent by five youths named Piyush Awasthi, Kanha Goyal, Vikhyat Pathak, Rahul Sharma and Rohit Dayani.
Their mobile numbers were switched off so the police couldn’t contact them till the filing of the report. Ongoing investigation revealed that Ashu Yadav, a resident of Datia is the prime suspect in the case and the car was taken on rent by him.
The car hired by the suspects was recovered from the Nipania area on Friday morning. Police found blood stains in the car as well. Vishwakarma said that Bhawna’s parents passed away a few years ago and was staying in Gwalior alone.
