During the discussion on the functioning of the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Upper House, Sanjay Singh, while referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for ‘double engine government’, said that wherever the BJP government is in the Center and the state, there is a higher crime rate. He cited the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, claiming that the ‘double engine government’ states are higher crime rates.

Comparison of Punjab and Haryana

Comparing the crime figures of Punjab and Haryana, Sanjay Singh said that the population of Haryana is less than Punjab, but there are more crimes. He also said that Delhi’s security comes directly under the Ministry of Home Affairs, but it is becoming a ‘stronghold of crimes’.

Statements on communal violence and historical monuments

Sanjay Singh, claiming a 94% increase in communal violence between 2019 and 2024, questioned that if the government has problems with Mughal monuments, why would they not drop the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort.

Question on the role of the center on Bangladeshi intruders

Raising the issue of Bangladeshi intruders, Sanjay Singh said that if the central government is not responsible for stopping the intruders from reaching Delhi, then whose is it?
