A 16-year-old college student allegedly killed a 20-year-old youth over an old dispute in Malad West on Wednesday. The Malad police arrested the accused and sent them to a juvenile centre in Dongri.
According to the police, the accused is a 12th-standard student at Saraf College of Arts and Commerce. He resides in Wasar Hill in Malad West, while the deceased, Anyant Singh, lived in the Prem Nagar area near Wasar Hill. Singh worked at a garbage depot.
In January, the deceased had beaten the accused and his friends in front of his college, in the presence of other students. Someone recorded a video of the incident, which later went viral among students. After this incident, the accused felt humiliated, and the two frequently exchanged hateful comments.
Eventually, the accused decided to take revenge. On Wednesday, between 1:45 pm and 2:00 pm at Wasar Hill, the accused stabbed Singh nine times on his head, throat, and abdomen, causing several serious injuries. As soon as the police received information, they arrived at the scene, but the accused had already fled and hidden in the mangroves.
The police transported Singh to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali West, where doctors examined him and pronounced him dead. The police later arrested the accused and sent him to a juvenile centre.
Under the guidance of DCP Zone 11 Anand Bhoite, Sr PI Vijay Panhale, Crime PI Sanjay Bedwal, API Sachin Kapse (Investigation Officer), Detection Officer Deepak Raiwade, and Detection Officer Tushar Sukhdeve, the matter is being investigated.
