Google is about to launch its mobile operating system Android 16 this year, and its beta version has already been made available to Google Pixel users. The latest update has shown that there will be several changes in the UI elements, including a new design of battery icons, WiFi signal icons and other status bar icons.

Android Authority quoted Tech Expert Mishaal Rahman as saying that Google is working to give a completely new look to Android 16 status bar icons this time. The changes that have come out in Android 16 Beta 3, especially the battery indicator and WiFi signal strength icons, have been given a new design.

There will be a big change in Wifi icon

Till now, the Wifi icon was divided into five parts in Android devices, showing the strength of the network. However, in Android 16 it will be divided into just three parts.

Why a new change?

  • This will help users to understand the status of WiFi signal quickly.
  • Weak signals, medium signals and strong signals will be shown more clearly.
  • This new design will look more simple and minimalistic than the first five parts.

Battery icon will change color now!

Google has made the battery icon more dynamic in Android 16. Now the status of the battery can be understood not only with the number but also with color coding.

How will the colors of battery icon change?

  • When there is a full battery – the battery icon will be seen in solid color.
  • When the battery is low – the icon will turn into red color, which will immediately know that the device needs to be charged.
  • During charging – the battery icon will turn into vibrant green, which will reveal that the device is charging.

What will be the benefit of users?

  • Without checking the battery percentage, users will be able to understand the battery status quickly.
  • Better visual indication will provide more control on the battery.

Are these changes final?

Currently all these changes are in the testing stage in the beta version of Android 16. These will be further improved in the coming weeks and will be officially rolled out in the final stable version.
