What is the matter?
Communal violence erupted in Nagpur on 17 March 2025, in which many people were injured.
Police investigation revealed that Faheem Khan had given a provocative speech before the violence, which caused the atmosphere to deteriorate.
Faheem is the city president of MDP (Minority Democratic Party) and lives in Sanjay Bagh Colony in Yashodhara Nagar, Nagpur.
The police have officially included his name in the FIR registered.

Election was fought against Gadkari, lost by huge margin

Faheem Khan was a MDP party candidate from Nagpur seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
He contested against Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, but lost by more than 6.5 lakh votes.
After losing the election, now his name has come up in Nagpur violence.

Aurangzeb’s tomb dispute behind violence?

The violence erupted in Madhya Nagpur around 7:30 pm on Monday night.
The rumor spread that a religious book was burnt during the performance of a right -wing organization.
After this, a large number of people started violence and threw stones at the police.
34 policemen were injured in this incident.

Curfew implemented in Nagpur, heavy security forces deployed

Nagpur Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singhal told that
“The situation is constantly being reviewed and strict security arrangements have been made.”

More than 2,000 armed policemen have been deployed.
The patrolling of QRT (quick response team) and riot control police (RCP) continues.
Monitoring has been increased in sensitive areas led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).

  • Tehsil
  • Lakdganj
  • Pachpavali
  • Shanti Nagar
  • Sakkardara
  • Nandanvan
  • Imamwada
  • Yashodhara city
  • Kapil Nagar

Police has made it clear that the movement of any vehicle during curfew will be with the permission of the Deputy Commissioner of Police.

50 arrested so far, investigation continues

12 policemen, including three Deputy Commissioners of Police, were injured in the violence on Monday night.
About 50 people have been arrested so far on charges of violence and arson.
The police is now searching for the main conspirators and there may be more arrests soon.
