Mumbai: In a big development in the divorce case between Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanshree Verma, the Indian cricketer has reportedly agreed to pay a permanent alimony of Rs four crore 75 lakhs to his estranged wife. Out of the total money, Chahal had already paid Rs two crore 37 lakhs and 55 thousand, reported Bar and Bench.

As per the report, the non-payment of the rest of the amount was seen as non-compliance by the family court. Notably, the couple was living separately for around two and a half years. The Bombay High Court noted that there was compliance with the consent terms.

The high court also overturned a family court’s decision that denied the request to waive the statutory cooling-off period for the divorce under the Hindu Marriage Act, reported The Bar and Bench.

The order was passed by a bench of Justice Madhav Jamdar. The bench also directed the family to take a decision on the divorce petition by tomorrow, March 20, considering Chahal’s participation in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“As petitioner 1 (Chahal) is participant of IPL, learned counsel informs that he may not be available from 21st March, the learned judge family court is requested to decide petition by tomorrow,” the Court directed as reported by the media house.

In this IPL season Chahal is playing from the Kings XI Punjab IPL team. The IPL is starting from March 22.

Reports of Chahal and Verma heading for a divorce came up around the end of 2024, and while the two never addressed it, the former broke her silence on the trolling and hatred coming her way in January.

Later, reports went viral that Chahal was dating RJ Mahvash, however, the latter vehemently denied the claims. Both tied the knot in December 2020 in an intimate ceremony after a brief relationship.
