Indian -origin American astronaut Sunita Williams and Buch Wilmore have returned to Earth. Both these astronauts who went on an 8 -day mission have returned to Earth after 9 months. Efforts were underway to bring them back to Earth for a long time and now both passengers have returned to Earth via dragon capsules. When these two passengers came out of the capsule, they were brought out on a stretcher. Seeing this, the question arises in the mind that what is this? Why Sunita Williams was placed on a stretcher? Are Sunita Williams healthy?
First of all, let us tell you that Sunita Williams is completely healthy. They are not sick. But yes, there is a protocol to take them to stretcher when they come out of the capsule. According to Live Science, the process of carrying astronauts to stretcher after returning to Earth is not associated with the ISS (International Space Station) Mission. It is a protocol that all astronauts have to follow. This is because astronauts cannot walk immediately after returning from space.
What is the reason for taking Sunita to a stretcher?
- One reason for this is that you cannot walk after exiting the capsule. Since they have been in space, temporary changes in the body are seen. In such a situation, when they return to Earth, intensive security procedures are adopted keeping in mind the physical changes. For this reason, stretcher is used.
- Live Science quoted NASA’s Johnson Space Center former senior scientist John Davit as saying that many astronauts do not want to come out on the stretcher, but they are told that they will be taken out on the stretcher.
- Another reason behind this is that astronauts may experience dizziness and nausea while returning to Earth. Keeping these things in mind, astronauts are taken to the stretcher as soon as they come to Earth.
- Former senior scientist John Davit states that passengers experience gravity as soon as they return to Earth, and they are loaded in space. In such a situation, when they come to the earth, it takes some time to adapt them to the environment.
