Chandigarh: The ongoing budget session of the Haryana assembly on Tuesday witnessed heated arguments between the ruling BJP and the principal opposition party Congress MLAs over the issue of examination leaks and irregularities in the recruitments, leading the latter to stage a walkout from the House.
Pandemonium prevailed in the assembly when the BJP legislator Om Prakash, raised the issue during the zero hour, of a topper being denied a government job during the previous Congress rule under the then chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. He quoted a court order and held that the topper’s name was covered with fluid, alleging that a deserving youth was overlooked.
This prompted the Congress MLAs to vehemently protest against the allegations and highlighting various allegations pertaining to examination papers leaks during the BJP rule. Din prevailed in the House when Speaker Harvinder Kalyan disallowed any discussion on the issue.
However, chief minister Nayab Saini intervened stating that it was a serious matter that youths were denied jobs on merit basis and that the Congress even tried to mislead the youth during the polls by asking them to get votes in its favour and get a job for themselves.
The Congress MLAs, however, continued to protest for not being given time to counter the allegations by BJP MLAs. They entered the well of the House and refused to return to their seats despite the Speaker’s warning that he would name them if they continued the din in the House. The Congress MLAs then walked out of the House amid the uproar over the issue.
