The Republican Party of India (Athawale) is actively preparing to commemorate the 98th anniversary of the historic Chavdar Tale Satyagraha, led by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on March 20, 1927, in Mahad.
A significant event in the fight against caste-based discrimination, the Satyagraha asserted the rights of marginalized communities to access public water resources. The anniversary will be celebrated on a grand scale.

A meeting was convened on March 11 at the Mahad government rest house. “The gathering focused on organizing the upcoming anniversary events, ensuring that the legacy of Dr. Ambedkar’s struggle continues to inspire and educate. Party members conducted inspections of Chavdar Tale and the Krantibhoomi area to oversee and enhance the arrangements for the commemoration,” said District President Narendra Gaikwad.
The RPI (A) is working to provide adequate facilities, as a large number of Bhim Sainiks are expected to attend. The event will also see participation from across communities who visit Mahad to pay homage to Dr. Ambedkar. “The party is committed to honoring the memory of the Chavdar Tale Satyagraha and thereby promoting the principles of equality and social justice championed by Dr. Ambedkar,” said Gaikwad.
