Mumbai Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi has reacted to the riots that broke out on Monday in Nagpur.
In a video message the MLA said, “I am regretful and deeply saddened that Nagpur, where everyone was living with harmony, communal riots never occurred earlier, has witnessed such a major incident this time. Several people have been injured. I just want to say, do not get provoked by anyone.”
He further said, “Its the month of Ramazan, my appeal to Hindu and Muslim brothers is to maintain peace and stay and not take laws in thier own hands.” “The law will take its course but justice must prevail”, he added.
Nitesh Rane Blames Abu Azmi For Violence
Meanwhile, earlier in the day Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane has blamed Samjawadi party MLA Abu Azmi for the violence in Nagpur.
Interacting with the media Rane said, “Abu Azmi ignited this issue, those who felicitate Abu Azmi at their house should be questioned.”

While responding to Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s comparison of Rahul Gandhi to Aurangzeb, the SP leader had said that Aurangzeb was not a “cruel administrator” and had “built many temples.” He added that the battle between Aurangzeb and the Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was for state administration and not about religion.”
At least 50 people have been detained by the police after violent clashes broke out in central Nagpur late Monday night. The unrest followed protests demanding the removal of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s tomb in Khultabad, escalating into widespread chaos, injuries and destruction.
What CM Fadnavis Said In The House On The Violence?
While adressing the Maharashtra assembly, CM Devendra Fadnavis said, “This violent incident and riots seem to be pre-planned.” The CM also said that specific houses, and establishments were targeted by the mob. He said that it all looked like a conspiracy.
