When it comes to the Ambanis, one word that perfectly encapsulates their celebrations is ‘extravagant’-and their 40th wedding anniversary was no exception. A week ago, Nita and Mukesh Ambani marked their milestone anniversary with an intimate yet luxurious celebration. Among the many highlights of the evening was a magnificent six-tier cake, crafted by renowned pastry chef Bunty Mahajan, the owner of Mumbai’s high-end bakery, Deliciae.

A cake fit for royalty
The centerpiece of the celebration, the 30-kilogram, six-tier cake, was nothing short of a masterpiece. Designed to reflect the grandeur of Vantara, the Ambanis’ private animal reserve in Jamnagar, the cake was an elegant mix of white, gold, and soft pink hues. Bunty Mahajan shared in a video that gold-coated animal figurines adorned the cake, adding a regal touch to its overall aesthetic.
Inspiration behind the design
Initially envisioned as a white and gold cake, the design underwent a significant transformation when it was revealed that pink is Nita Ambani’s favorite color. The final creation featured golden animal sculptures, intricate patterns resembling leopard and zebra prints, and a sand-like texture at the base to complement the wildlife theme. At the very top, two beautifully crafted golden elephants stood proudly, holding a topper that read, “Happy Anniversary, Dear Nita and Mukesh.”
Beyond its grandeur, the cake carried a sentimental value. At its core, the initials ‘N’ and ‘M’ were etched on the cake, signifying the couple’s four decades of togetherness. Additionally, sources suggest that the wildlife-inspired theme was also a nod to Anant Ambani’s love for animals and his continuous efforts in animal welfare.
Challenges in crafting the cake
In her video, Bunty Mahajan spoke about the meticulous planning and the challenges involved in executing such a detailed and elaborate design. Balancing the different textures, ensuring a seamless transition between layers, and maintaining a luxurious yet elegant appeal required exceptional craftsmanship and precision. Despite the challenges, the final creation was a resounding success, earning praise from the Ambanis and their guests alike.
