Mumbai – In a fraud case, the Bombay High Court, cheated of Rs 25 lakh in lieu of bail, has refused to grant anticipatory bail to the Satara District Sessions Judge in a case of bribe of five lakhs.

The judge gave this order after hearing the arguments of both sides. Borkar refused to give relief to the accused Judge Dhananjay Nikam. The entire process was conducted in a closed room. 46 -year -old Nikam is accused of demanding bribes through two middlemen, Kishore Kharat of Mumbai and Anand Kharat of Satara. The Kharat brothers approached the complainant in the case and demanded a bribe on behalf of Nikam. According to the Anti -Corruption Bureau (ACB), Nikam’s involvement in the investigation has been revealed and found that he was in contact with middlemen.

Nikam denied the allegations in his anticipatory bail plea. He said that there is no evidence of his direct involvement in this case. Nikam also argued that he was on leave or on duty elsewhere throughout the incident. He himself did not give any bail order nor promised to get any favorable order. He said that he had no information about the meeting between the complainant and the mediators.

In the last hearing, the court sought CCTV footage from HDFC Bank branch at Satara. When this conversation took place, the accused judge and the complainant were going to the bank by their car. Considering the arguments, the court dismissed Nikam’s anticipatory bail plea.
