Will Puja Khedkar Be Arrested In Cheating Case? Here’s What The Supreme Court Said | File Photo

As the interim protection from arrest for former IAS probationer Puja Khedkar in a cheating case ended on March 17, the Supreme Court heard her plea on Tuesday.

According to a report by Live Law, the Supreme Court asked Delhi Police to expedite the investigation and questioned why the Delhi Police had not completed the investigation when Khedkar herself had stated in an affidavit that she was willing to cooperate.

Will Puja Khedkar Be Arrested in the Cheating Case?

No, Puja Khedkar will not be arrested in the matter as the apex court has extended the interim protection granted to her. The court will now hear the matter on April 15.

Former trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar is accused of falsifying and misrepresenting facts in her application to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Last year, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) cancelled the selection of Puja Khedkar and permanently debarred her from all future exams and selections. She is currently untraceable after an FIR was registered against her in Delhi, where she is accused of ‘misrepresenting information’ in her application for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, 2022.

In June 2024, Khedkar stirred up a storm in the political and administrative circles of the state due to her transfer following alleged misuse of authority in the Pune Collector’s office. Her OBC and disability certificates are also under scrutiny.

As per a report submitted by Pune Collector Suhas Diwse to the General Administration Department, even before joining duty on June 3, Khedkar repeatedly demanded that she be provided a separate cabin, car, residential quarters, and a peon.

She was told that she was not entitled to these facilities while on probation and that accommodation would be provided to her.

Diwse, in his report to the GAD, stated it was not appropriate to allow Khedkar to continue her training in Pune.

She was also accused of removing the nameplate of a senior official at the Pune Collector’s office when he allowed her to use his ante-chamber as her office.
