Indian philanthropist and businesswoman Nita Ambani has long advocated for India’s rich textile heritage, often gracing grand events in handwoven sarees that honour the country’s craftsmanship. And, her recent appearance at the Vantara inauguration was no exception, as she once again turned heads in not one but two breathtaking sarees designed by Manish Malhotra.
Vantara, an ambitious animal welfare initiative, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 4, with the Ambani family in attendance. While the event was grand in itself, Nita’s impeccable sartorial choices became a major highlight.
Ace Indian fashion designer Manish Malhotra took to Instagram to share details of her stunning ensembles, which blended tradition with timeless glamour. Let’s take a closer look at both of her striking saree looks.

Nita’s first look for the Vantara inauguration featured a magnificent nine-motif Double Ikat Patola saree. This saree, traditionally known as the “nine-figure adtala design,” is the heart of Gujarat’s textile artistry. Crafted using the intricate resist-dyeing technique, the masterpiece was sourced from Rajshrungar Sarees and took seven months to complete, shared by the designer. Seven skilled artisans worked meticulously to weave the symmetrical motifs, highlighting the exceptional craftsmanship involved in creating this heritage piece.
To complement the rich detailing of the saree, Nita is accessorised with an exquisite diamond ring and a statement Ganesha necklace adorned with ultra-rare conch pearls. Adding to the regal charm, she stacked traditional bangles on her wrist while keeping her makeup soft and understated. Her open, flowing tresses and delicate bindi completed the whole look.

For her second ensemble, Nita turned to Bengal’s textile heritage, draping herself in a mesmerising Murshidabad silk saree. Handwoven and sourced from Swadesh Online, the saree featured intricate hand-block printing in vivid hues of orange and pink.
She elevated the look with a regal Kundan necklace encrusted with green emeralds, paired with matching stud earrings. Her stacked bangles added a touch of tradition, while chic oval-shaped sunglasses brought in a modern twist. The businesswoman completed her look with a graceful side-swept bun adorned with a delicate gajra.
