New Zealand opener Tim Seifert went bonkers against Pakistan pacer SHaheen Afridi during New Zealand vs Pakistan 2nd T20I on Tuesday. Seifert, who played six consecutive dot balls in the first over, shifted gears when Shaheen Afridi came in for his second over.
He launched the first two deliveries into the stands for massive sixes. After taking a couple of runs on the fourth ball, he finished the over in style with two more back-to-back sixes. In total, Seifert plundered 26 runs off the over, putting New Zealand in a commanding position.
Seifert smashed a blistering 44 off just 29 balls before being dismissed by Abrar Ahmed. His aggressive knock included three fours and five sixes, giving New Zealand a fiery start.
New Zealand on top against Pakistan
After rain earlier in the day led to a massively delayed start, Pakistan were put in to bat by Kiwi skipper Michael Bracewell, and it wasn’t the happiest of innings as regular wickets were chipped away at. However, some useful brisk cameos allowed Pakistan to score at 9 rpo in this shortened 15-over match, finishing on 135-9 in their innings.
The crucial contributions for Pakistan came from the bat of Agha Salman, Shaheen Afridi, and Shadab Khan. For New Zealand, Jacob Duffy was the pick of the bowlers picking up 4 wickets for 14 runs in 3.4 overs.
Chasing 136 runs for victory, Siefert and Finn Allen put on 53 run stand for the opening wicket. At the time of writing New Zealand were 111/4 with 25 still needed of 25 balls.
