Explosions Heard After Vehicles Torched Amid Violent Clash In Nagpur’s Mahal Area; VIDEO Surfaces | X | ANI

Nagpur (Maharashtra), March 17: A violent clash between two groups in the Mahal area of Nagpur led to widespread chaos on Monday (March 17) night. The situation quickly escalated as several vehicles were vandalised and set on fire. A video surfaced on social media showing loud explosions from the burning vehicles. Several vehicles were set on fire after the violent clashes erupted allegedly over the demand of removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb. Multiple police personnel were injured and heavy police deployment was made to control the situation.

Explosion or Bullets Fired?

The video shows several explosions after near the vehicle which has been torched allegedly by the violent mob. However, the explosion seems to be bullets being fired by the police personnel to disperse the crowd. However, it is not clear if it was explosion from the vehicle which was on fire or bullets fired by the police.

Vehicles Torched, Stone Pelting Reported

According to initial reports, the clash started after a dispute between two groups, but the exact cause of the confrontation is still unclear. As tensions flared, vehicles parked on the streets were attacked and set ablaze. Several videos from the area show cars and motorcycles burning, with thick smoke rising into the air. Additionally, stone pelting was reported, causing damage to nearby shops and houses.

Police Injured, Heavy Security Deployed

As violence escalated, police personnel rushed to the spot to control the situation. However, some officers sustained injuries while trying to disperse the mobs. To prevent further unrest, a heavy police force has been deployed in the area, and senior officials are closely monitoring the situation.

Residents in Fear, Authorities on Alert

Local residents expressed fear over the sudden outbreak of violence. Many remained indoors as authorities worked to bring the situation under control. Shops in the vicinity were shut down as a precautionary measure.

Shocking Visuals Surface

Amid the unrest, multiple vehicles, including two JCB machines, were set ablaze. A Fire Brigade official confirmed that a firefighter sustained injuries while attempting to control the blaze. “Two JCBs were set on fire, and a few more vehicles were impacted. One fireman is injured,” the official told news agency ANI.

Videos shared by ANI showed burning vehicles engulfed in flames and debris scattered across the streets. The intense heat from the burning vehicles caused explosions, further fueling fear among locals.

Fadnavis Calls For Peace

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called for peace and asked people not to believe rumours.
