IPL 2025: The Indian Premier League 2025 season will start in just a few days. This 18th season of IPL will start from March 22, while the final match will be played on 25 May. The first match will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Eden Gardens.

A total of 74 matches will be played between 10 teams in 65 days in the IPL 2025 season. The history of IPL has been very interesting. It was started by Indian fugitive businessman Lalit Modi.

Lalit Modi laid the foundation of IPL

He has also been the former president of the IPL. Lalit Modi is currently in Vanuatu. Where he has taken citizenship. Lalit Modi, desired in many cases in India, has given up his Indian citizenship. He submitted his passport to the Indian High Commission in London and took citizenship of Vanuatu.

However, Lalit Modi’s happiness will not last long, as Vanuatu’s Prime Minister Jotham Napat has ordered the passport officials of his country to cancel Lalit Modi’s passport. Napat has said that Vanuatu will never give shelter to criminals. This is a different issue from citizenship.

T20 cricket became very popular in India due to the T20 World Cup in 2007. Meanwhile, Lalit Modi was busy preparing to start the Indian Premier League. Lalit Modi alone put this idea in front of the BCCI and launched it alone.

Before the IPL announcement in 2007, the BCCI had several members of the anti -Lalit Modi faction who wanted the project to fail and hence they did not support any such project.

IPL started with many difficulties

The biggest problem for Lalit Modi was how to celebrate the franchise, because he was only getting the team by paying money, no property. Apart from this, there was an uproar over the sale of players as many players in India are considered to be God. Meanwhile, no one understood their sales.

The 2008 and 2009 IPL headed by Lalit Modi was excellent and proved to be superhit, but after 2010, things changed because two new teams joined the IPL at that time. Kochi and Pune teams were brought to the IPL, in which there was a lot of controversy over how to buy the Kochi team and mistakes were found in the tender.

After IPL 2010, Lalit Modi was accused of taking advantage of his post, rigging the auction and rigging the IPL -related tenders. The BCCI suspended Lalit Modi from the board after internal investigation and also banned him from BCCI.

When there was talk of disturbances in the IPL. The ED then started the investigation, but during this time Lalit Modi left India and moved to London. Now he has taken citizenship of Vanuatu and is currently in this country.
