Indore To Get 600 Digital Bus Stops With Modern Amenities, First Phase Begins Soon | Representative Image
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Atal Indore City Transport Services Ltd (AICTSL) is set to introduce 600 modern digital bus stops in the city. Construction of these bus stops will begin soon. In the first phase, 200 digital bus stops will be constructed, replacing old ones, followed by additional phases to complete the remaining ones.
These digital bus stops will offer modern facilities to commuters, including CCTV surveillance, mobile charging points, comfortable seating, emergency contact numbers and real-time bus arrival information. The initiative aims to improve traffic management, ensuring buses stop only at designated locations, reducing congestion and making public transport more efficient.
The project is expected to be completed within a month. The AICTSL is also planning to develop libraries, dedicated seating areas and other amenities at bus stops with sufficient space. The cost of each digital bus stop is estimated at ?8 lakh, but since the project will run on public-private partnership (PPP) model, there will be no financial burden on the administration or passengers. The construction agency will be allowed to use the bus stops for advertisements to recover costs.
These state-of-the-art bus stops will be designed on the lines of metro stations in major cities, offering an advanced and comfortable commuting experience. AICTSL public relations officer (PRO) Mala Singh Thakur confirmed that 200 digital bus stops would be constructed in the first phase, with the second phase covering another 200, eventually reaching 600 stops. With this initiative, Indore’s public transport system is set to become more organized, commuter- friendly and technologically advanced, providing a safer and more efficient travel experience for daily passengers.
