Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A ruckus broke out at Motherhood Hospital on Sunday evening when a nurse allegedly administered the same injection to both a mother and her two-day-old newborn. The incident occurred around 7:30 pm, and Vijay Nagar police registered a case against two individuals for assaulting an on-duty doctor.
ASI Anil Pathak of Vijay Nagar police station said that an altercation took place between doctors and the family members over the injection, as the nurse had allegedly administered the same injection to both the mother and the newborn. He added that the situation was brought under control and confirmed that both the mother and the baby are currently in stable condition.
According to the police, Dr Gaurav Mongra, a resident of Nipaniya, lodged a complaint stating that he was at the hospital to examine a child. Seeing a crowd, he requested them to vacate the area. However, an individual from the crowd slapped him and abused him. The police registered a case against Amit Raj and his accomplice under sections 115, 296, 351(3) and 3(5) of the BNS and section 3(4) of the Doctors’ Protection Act.
Meanwhile, a video of the altercation went viral on social media, showing hospital administration staff saying that “a doctor can also become a goon.” The family members alleged that the doctors threatened them, claiming they could also resort to violence and refuse to treat the newborn, if necessary.
