After a poor performance in the Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan cricket team has got the new captain for the T20 International Format. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has given the command of the team for Salman Ali Aga till the 2026 T20 World Cup.

However, Pakistan’s initial performance under his captaincy was very disappointing. In the first T20 International match against New Zealand, the Pakistani team could not score 100 runs and was all out for just 91 runs.

Pakistan’s embarrassing defeat in first T20

Pakistan had to bat first in the first T20 International match played at Christchurch. New Zealand captain Michael Braswell won the toss and chose bowling and his decision proved to be correct.

  • Hasan Nawaz (Opener) – Could not score runs
  • Abdul Samad (batsman) – flop performance
  • Mohammad Ali (bowler) – failed in batting, remaining to see bowling

Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan out of the team!

Major changes have been made in this new T20 team of Pakistan. Former captain Babar Azam and experienced wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan have been dropped from the team. However, these two players will be seen playing in the upcoming ODI series.

Will Pakistan’s T20 team recover from this shock?

The team’s performance in the first match is a matter of concern. Will the new captain Salman Ali Aga be able to handle the team? Or Pakistan will have to recall its old experienced players?
