Pakistan’s performance in the Champions Trophy 2025 was very poor and the team was out of the tournament in the early days. After this, India won the title and established their reign.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made major changes after defeat:

  • Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were dropped from the T20 team.
  • Salman Ali Aga was given the command of the team as the new captain.

But did this change prove to be beneficial for the Pakistan team? no way!
Pakistan played their first T20 match after the Champions Trophy and suffered a crushing defeat.

New Zealand crushed Pakistan in 10.1 overs!

Pakistan flopped badly in the first match of the five -match T20 series played in Christchurch.
Batting first, the entire team was all out for 91 runs.
New Zealand achieved the target in 10.1 overs by losing just 1 wicket.

This was Pakistan’s third lowest score in T20 International cricket.

New Zealand bowlers wreak havoc

Kyle Jameson bowled deadly and took just 8 runs in 4 overs and took 3 wickets.
Jacob Dafi also took 4 wickets, but he dismissed most of the tail batsmen.

Jamison was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for this great performance.

Pakistani batsman failed!

The team’s 8 batsmen could not even cross the double -tens figure.
Only three players – Khushdil Shah (32), captain Salman Ali Aga (18) and Jahandad Khan (17) were able to score some runs.

Pakistan included new players, but…

Three Pakistan players made their debut in this match.
However, no impact could leave.

Now the question arises –

Has PCB taken the right decisions?
Was it a mistake to exclude Babar Azam and Rizwan?
