Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman was rushed to a hospital in Chennai in the wee hours of Sunday after he complained of chest pain. As per reports, the singer-composer experienced sudden pain in his chest, due to which he had to be admitted to the hospital.
Rahman has reportedly been admitted to the emergency ward of a private hospital in Chennai, and is being closely monitored by doctors.
Several tests including ECG and ECHO are being performed at the hospital. According to a report in India Today, the music maestro might have to undergo an angiogram. He is now being tended to by a team of specialists.
Rahman’s official spokesperson or family members are yet to issue an official statement. More details are awaited.
It was only a month ago when AR Rahman’s estranged wife, Saira Rahman, underwent an emergency surgery, post which she thanked the music composer.
“A few days ago, Mrs. Saira Rahman was hospitalised due to a medical emergency and underwent surgery. During this challenging time, her sole focus is on recovering quickly. She deeply appreciates the concern and support from those around her and is truly grateful for their kindness and encouragement,” an official statement by Saira’s lawyer read.
“She also seeks privacy during this period and expresses gratitude for the understanding from her supporters and well-wishers,” it added.
The Oscar-winning music composer and Saira shocked everyone by announcing their separation after 29 years of marriage in November 2024. “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again,” Rahman’s separation post had stated.
Rahman and Saira got married in 1995 and share three children—Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen.
