Navi Mumbai: In a special “Drunk and Drive” campaign conducted by Navi Mumbai Traffic Police during Holi celebrations, 107 motorists were caught driving under the influence.
The campaign was carried out on March 13 and 14 across the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate limits. “We set up checkpoints at key locations and conducted breathalyzer tests to identify violators. All caught drivers were taken into custody, and necessary legal action was initiated,” Deputy Commissioner of police (traffic) Tirupati Kakade said.
He further said that the campaign against drunk driving will continue regularly. The police have been making repeated appeals to motorists to avoid drinking and driving, as such negligence leads to fatal accidents.
The Navi Mumbai Traffic Department has urged all drivers to follow traffic rules, refrain from drinking and driving, and contribute to road safety. “We would take strict action against irresponsible drivers to ensure smooth and safe traffic movement,” Kakade added.
