Young Indian and Punjab Kings’ batter Musheer Khan thanked the almighty for saving his life from the near-fatal accident he and his father went through last year as he gears for IPL 2025. However, the right-handed batter admitted to have been upset at missing a handful of important matches.
Musheer, along with his brother Sarfaraz Khan, were to be part of Mumbai’s squad for the Irani Trophy to face the Rest of India (ROI). The 20-year-old was reportedly travelling with his father Naushan Khan when the road accident took place as a source of the Times of India (TOI) claimed as below:
“He didn’t travel with Mumbai team to Lucknow for the Irani Cup. He was probably traveling from his native place, Azamgarh, with his father, to Lucknow when the accident took place.”
A report of IANS claimed that Musheer had suffered injuries to his neck and limbs as his Toyota overturned at high speed. Speaking in a video uploaded by Punjab Kings, the youngster reflected on that phase and said:
“Life mein first time itni badi injury aayi thi aur itna din lag gaya tha thik hone ke liye. Pehle toh bahut dukh hua ki bahut saari cheezein thi jo aane waali thi woh chut gaya par. Par upar waale ka shukar hai, jaan bach gayi.”
(For the first time in life, I experience such a serious injury and it took me a long time to recover. I was really upset that I had to miss many upcoming opportunities. But thank god, he saved my life.)
Musheer Khan is yet to play a T20 match
Musheer, meanwhile, surprisingly is yet to play a T20 game and has only featured in nine first-class matches. The spin-bowling all-rounder has an outstanding first-class record, featuring in 716 runs in nine matches at 51.14 along with three centuries.
Punjab, led by Shreyas Iyer, will open their campaign against the Gujarat Titans on March 25 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
