Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh will experience April-like heat in the last 15 days of March. The mercury may cross 40 degrees in most cities. There is also an alert of heat wave for four days. At the same time, heat wave will run for 20 days in April-May.

According to the Meteorological Department, this time Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior-Chambal will be the hottest.

In the first fortnight of March, a mixed effect of weather was seen in the state. There was cold in the first week and the night temperature in many cities including Bhopal broke the record of 10 years. The temperature gradually rose in the last few days, and Holi witnessed a summer-like heat.

Senior weather department officials said there are indications of less than normal rainfall in March. At the same time, the temperature is likely to remain above normal. Heat wave will also run in the state from March itself.

The scorching effect of heatwave

According to the Meteorological Department, generally if the day temperature is more than 40 degrees or 4.6 degrees above normal, then it is considered a heat wave. Since, the mercury has reached 39 degrees in the state right now. In many cities, the temperature has increased by 3 to 4 degrees above normal. In such a situation, heat wave will start blowing in the state in the next week.

April-May will be the hottest months

The Meteorological Department has predicted that April and May will be the hottest this year. Within these two months, the mercury may cross 45 degrees in the districts of Gwalior, Chambal, Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol and Sagar divisions. Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain and Narmadapuram divisions will also be hot.
