Team India’s T20I skipper and Mumbai Indians star Suryakumar Yadav was seen seeking blessings of Sai Baba at Shirdi as he visited the holy place along with his wife Devisha Shetty. A video of the same was shared by news agency IANS as the right-handed batter was also honoured by the Shri Sai Baba Sansthan.
Suryakumar, who has done a tremendous job since taking over as India’s T20I captain, is a vital cog even for the Mumbai Indians and has played an integral role in their dominance over the years. Although the 34-year-old had a strike rate of 167.67 in IPL 2024 in 11 matches in IPL 2024, he still managed only 345 runs. His form was also not the greatest during the recently-concluded five-game T20I series against England despite India winning it 4-1, registering a couple of ducks.
Mumbai Indians had a forgettable IPL 2024
Meanwhile, the five-time champions had a forgettable IPL season last year as they finished at the bottom of the table with four wins in 14 games. Although all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been retained as captain, the franchise has replaced Mark Boucher with Mahela Jayawardene as coach.
Squad: Hardik Pandya (c), Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, Tilak Verma, Trent Boult, Naman Dhir, Robin Minz, Karn Sharma, Ryan Rickelton, Deepak Chahar, Will Jacks, Ashwani Kumar, Mitchell Santner, Reece Topley, Shrijith Krishnan, Raj Angad Bawa, Venkat Satyanarayana Raju, Bevon Jacobs, Arjun Tendulkar, Vignesh Puthhur, Suryakumar Yadav.
They also had a couple of injury replacements, roping in Corbin Bosch for Lizaad Williams and Mujeeb Ur Rahman for Allah Ghazanfar. Mumbai will open their campaign against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 23 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
