Mira-Bhayandar: Mira Bhayandar has found a place in the list of 60 cities across the country which have been shortlisted for the assessment and evaluation of centrally sponsored schemes (CSS).

Notably, Mira Bhayandar is the only city in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) which has been selected for the evaluation process which will be conducted by experts from the Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO)-an integral arm of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog which serves as the premier policy think tank of the central government, providing directional and policy inputs.

Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) – related CSS’s which will be evaluated include-Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) initiative, Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), PM Street Vendor’s Atma Nirbhar Nidhi and Ayushman Bharat.

The evaluation process which falls under the “Urban Transformation” category will continue till 27, March. It envisages an elaborate survey of the CSS’s followed by recommendations based on the synthesis of sectoral and ground level analysis, on the need to continue the schemes in their existing form, modify, scale-up, scale-down or close them down.

As part of the expenditure reforms, the NITI Aayog has initiated the process for revamping of CSS’s which account for over 10 percent of the Union Budget outlay, to assess relevance, effectiveness and sustainability of each scheme.
