Navi Mumbai: The transfer of Journalist Bhavan in Seawoods by CIDCO to the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR) has sparked outrage among Navi Mumbai’s journalist community.
The multipurpose building, located at Plot No. 15A, Sector 38, Nerul, was constructed in response to a long-standing demand from city journalists. However, despite its intended purpose, the building has remained unused.
“This facility was meant for journalists, but CIDCO has handed it over to DGIPR without any prior notice. This is completely unacceptable, and we will strongly oppose it,” said journalist Vinayak Patil.
In light of this, a crucial meeting has been scheduled with Maharashtra’s Forest Minister, Ganesh Naik on Sunday, to discuss the matter and seek a resolution. Journalists from across Navi Mumbai have been urged to attend and voice their concerns.
“This building was built for journalists, and it should remain with us. We will bring this issue to the minister’s attention to ensure a fair resolution. This meeting is not being organized by any specific journalist association but is being held collectively in the interest of all journalists,” Patil added.
