What is digital arrest?
With the help of social media, fraud is being done through digital arrest. And people are being harassed for several months and money is being collected from them. In this type of crime, the criminal presents himself as a government official. He tries to trap the victim in her own house by making a video call. The victim is cheated thinking that any of their relatives are in trouble or their mobile number is being used for illegal activities. After digital arrest, money is demanded from the victim.
Government is trying to spread awareness
Keeping in mind the increasing cases of digital arrest, the government has taken several steps. The Department of Telecommunications is campaigning with caller tunes in different languages so that people do not get caught in a digital cheating trap. People are being appealed that if someone calls them as a government official and demands money, then there is a plan to arrest them in a digital manner.
