A casual train journey turned chaotic after rats were spotted crawling inside the coach. Prashant Kumar, a passenger travelling in the second AC coach of the South Bihar Express train complained about rats inside the train. He was disturbed and shocked to find rats onboard, sneaking through the blanket and crawling through seat corners and the floor. He alerted the railways through an X post by sharing visuals of the rodents in his coach.

Paid over 3K to travel in “rat-infested coach”

The passenger reportedly paid over ₹3,000 for his AC ticket, only to experience a rat menace. In the videos shared online, Kumar filmed the disturbing scene inside the coach, where multiple rats crawled across seats and the floor in coach A1 of train 13288.

During his train trip, Kumar was shocked to find rats scurrying across the coach, climbing over seats and blankets. He showed how someone’s sleep time would turn into a nightmare after the rodents popped out of the corners and peeped from the bedsheets.

“Rats are climbing over the seats and luggage”

He immediately contacted the RPF for assistance. He was heard dialing the railways in one of his videos.

“PNR 6649339230, Train 13288, multiple rats in coach A1, rats are climbing over the seats and luggage. Is this why I paid so much for the AC 2 class?” Prashant’s caption read. “What is this condition of Indian Railways, paid over 3k for rat infested train”, the post read further.

His post has sparked widespread concern and outrage among passengers.

The visuals took a dig at the concerns about cleanliness and maintenance in Indian Railways, particularly in AC compartments where commuters pay more for better services.

As of Thursday morning, the railways has not issued any official response to Kumar’s X post.
