Trump stopped plans to put tariffs on Canada: US President Donald Trump has again retaliated. Since becoming President on 20 January, he has been continuously announcing and warning to impose tariffs on other countries around the world including Canada, Mexico, China. But they are not implementing this ultimatum. Trump has once again postponed its decision to impose 50 percent tariff on steel and aluminum imports in Canada. Donald Trump’s Senior Economic Advisor has said that Trump has stopped the implementation of these fees on Canada due to questions and uncertainties raised between the two countries.

In an interview to the media, Trump’s Senior Economic Advisor Peter Navarro said that the US has postponed the tariff decision on Canada, which was scheduled to come into force from Wednesday 12 March. Navora’s statement came after Ontario’s premiere Dug Ford’s announcement to temporarily suspend 25 percent tariff on power exports to the United States.

Trump is scared of Canada’s 25 percent tariff

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has refused to bow down to Trump. He has imposed 25 percent tariffs on electricity supplied by Canada to 1.5 million houses in four US states. The announcement came only a few hours after Ontario’s announcement by the Prime Minister that the tariff will be temporarily suspended, as the US has stopped its decision to put a 50 percent tariff on imports of steel and aluminum products from Canada.

Trump government was forced to take a U-turn

All countries in the world are ready to give a strong answer to Trump’s tariff policy. Canada, China and Mexico have indicated their readiness to put up counter -tariffs on American tariffs. Due to these preparations from other countries, the Trump government has been forced to take a U-turn on its policy of repeated tariffs. Significantly, Trump announced that he would increase the duty on steel and aluminum imports from Canada from 25 percent to 50 percent. Which was to be implemented from Wednesday, March 12. But Navaro has announced that it has been withdrawn.
