Rajkot: A shocking incident unfolded in Gujarat’s Rajkot, where a 76-year-old man allegedly shot and killed his 52-year-old son after he objected to get married for the second time.
According to a report by NDTV, the accused, Rambhai alias Ramkubhai Boricha, had a heated argument with his son, Pratap Boricha, around 10 AM on Sunday, March 9. The disagreement stemmed from Pratap objecting to his father’s plan to get him re-married. Enraged, Rambhai pulled out a firearm and fired two bullets at his son, killing him on the spot.
Eyewitnesses and officials noted that after committing the crime, Rambhai remained seated near his son’s lifeless body, showing no signs of remorse. The chilling act has left the local community in shock.
Following the incident, Pratap’s wife, Jaya, lodged a complaint at the Jasdan police station. Authorities swiftly took action, arresting Rambhai the same day. He was presented before the court and subsequently remanded to police custody for two days.
Officials have confirmed that further investigations are underway to uncover more details surrounding the case. The police are also examining whether Rambhai had premeditated the attack or if it was a spur-of-the-moment act.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family is left grappling with the tragedy, while legal proceedings continue against the accused.
