Recognizing the cultural significance of ‘Geet Ganwai’, it was mentioned in the representative list of UNESCO’s abstract cultural heritage in December 2016. According to singers, ‘Geet singing’ has deep importance in life, especially in marriages where it begins with the call of gods. Prime Minister Modi reached Mauritius on Tuesday and garlanded him by Naveen Chandra Ramgulam, equivalent to his Mauritius at Sir Sivasagar Ramgulam International Airport.

On reaching Mauritius’s hotel, the Indian community welcomed him warmly. The people present in the hotel welcomed him with the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and waved the Indian tricolor flag.
