Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): An eight-year-old girl died after she was run over by a tractor in Jabalpur on Monday. The little girl was crossing the road to buy samosas when a reckless tractor driver, who busy recording the reel, hit her.
The deceased has been identified as Aastha Lodhi Thakur. Reports suggest that the tractor was involved in illegal sand mining and allegedly has links with BJP leader Rahul Jain.
The tragic accident happened in Bijauri village under Chargaon police station of Jabalpur district.
According to information, the driver has been identified as Neeraj Chakraborty. He was reportedly wearing earphones and making a social media reel while driving the tractor. An eight-old-girl was crossing the road to buy samosas from the opposite shop, when the negligent driver crushed her to death.
Furious villagers held the driver and beat him. They blocked the Gotegaon-Jabalpur road, causing a long traffic jam on both sides late at night. The villagers protested and demanded an FIR against the tractor driver and owner for over five hours.
To control the situation, additional police forces from Shahpura, Chargaon, Bargi, Bhedaghat, Tilwara, and the police headquarters were sent to the spot.
They agreed to allow the post-mortem only after the FIR was registered.

Reports suggest that illegal sand mining is widespread at the Narmada ghats near Chargaon and Shahpura. The tractor is said to be linked to BJP leader Rahul Jain.
Based on the family’s complaint, the police registered a case against BJP leader Rahul Jain and driver Neeraj Chakraborty. The tractor was seized, and the driver was taken into custody.
The girl’s last rites will be performed after the post-mortem.
