Faithful people are in crisis for Bashar al-Assad
The Alavi community supports Bashar al-Assad on a large scale. The main reason for this is that Assad himself is from the Alavi community. As soon as his father came to power, he appointed a large number of Alavi people to government and military positions. He started getting a direct and large share of power and resources. However, Syria has only 12 percent of the Alavi population, while the Sunni population is 74 percent.
Sunni minority communities angry with Alavi people
Despite being a minority, the Alvi community received huge benefits under the rule of Assad. Due to which the majority Sunni community is angry with Alavi people. Additionally, religious wars between Sunnis and Shias have been going on for years. The rule of the Asad government was secular, while Sunni was opposed to religious leaders and radical groups Asad. The people of the Sunni community consider Alavi people to be strayed from Muslim religion.
Causes of violence in Syria
The Al-Assad family had been ruling Syria since 1971, which will end in December 2024. Ahmed al-Shara has removed Bashar al-Assad from power and formed an interim government. Many people in Syria believe that despite the Sunni dominated there, power and resources have been in the hands of minority communities – Alavi – for the last five decades. The Al-Assad family comes from this community.
There may be a coup in Syria in December 2024. And Bashar al-Assad had to leave Syria and flee to Russia. Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, a Islamic group led by Ahmed al-Shara, has removed Assad from power. The roots of this group are in the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda. The US and many Western governments have still included it as a terrorist organization.
