Team India captain and Mumbai Indians star Rohit Sharma returned to the Indian shores on March 10, Monday from Dubai, having led the Men in Blue to Champions Trophy 2025 victory. The 37-year-old was escorted by several policemen and fans could hardly keep calm before he entered into his car to leave for home.
Rohit added yet another ICC title to his arsenal as India thoroughly outplayed New Zealand on Sunday at the Dubai International Stadium. The right-handed batter also stepped up as a batter, earning the Player of the Match award as he smashed 76 to break the back of the run-chase. Having captained the Asian Giants to the T20 World Cup last year undefeated, Team India yet again won the trophy without being defeated by any other side.
Mumbai Indians had replaced Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as captain ahead of IPL 2024
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians had triggered a lot of backlash before the start of IPL 2024 as they had replaced Rohit as the captain of the franchise, with Hardik Pandya replacing him. The seam-bowling all-rounder had a forgettable time on all fronts as the five-time champions finished at the bottom of the table with four wins and ten losses.
Rohit, nevertheless, had a promising season with the bat, aggregating 417 runs in 14 matches at 32.08 alongside a strike rate of 150. As far as the 2025 edition goes, Mumbai Indians will open their campaign against rivals Chennai Super Kings on March 23 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
