Patna (Bihar), March 10: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Pratap Yadav on Monday came down heavily on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA for asking Muslims to stay indoors on the festival of Holi, which coincides with a Friday during the holy month of Ramzan.
Tejashwi Yadav also criticised the Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar over their silence against the remarks made by the BJP MLA. He also demanded an FIR against BJP MLA Haribhushan Thakur Bachaul over his remarks.
Tejashwi Yadav shared the video on his official social media account with the caption, “Ee Bihar hai Bihar! Yahan ek-ek Musalman ke samarthan aur suraksha mein paanch-paanch Hindu khada hai. Samvidhan ka mazak mat udaao, apni had aur aukaat mein raho. Jab tak Bihar mein RJD aur Lalu Ji ke vichar ko maanne wale log hain, hum koi danga nahi hone denge. Chahe iske badle satta mile ya satta chali jaaye.”
(This is Bihar! Here, five Hindus stand in support and protection of every Muslim. Don’t make fun of the Constitution, stay within your limits. As long as there are people in Bihar who believe in RJD and Lalu ji’s ideology, we will not let any riots happen. Whether we get power in return or lose power.)
Taking a dig at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he said, “Sab koi jae bhaad mein, apan kursi ke jugaad mein.” (Let everyone go to hell, I’m only concerned about securing my seat). He also said that the CM does not care about anything else.
BJP MLA from the Bisfi Assembly constituency Haribhushan Thakur Bachaul gave a similar statement given by Uttar Pradesh Circle Officer (CO) Anuj Chaudhary earlier. The cop said that there are 52 Fridays in a year and Holi comes only once in a year. He asked those uncomfortable with colours during Holi to remain indoors during the festival.
Repeating the same statement, Haribhushan said, “I want to appeal to the Muslims that there are 52 Jummas (Fridays) in a year. The one this week coincides with Holi. So, they should let Hindus celebrate the festival. If they have any problem with colours being smeared on them, they should stay indoors. This is essential for maintaining communal harmony in the state.”
Tejashwi Yadav took a dig at Nitish Kumar’s JDU and said that the party has been influenced by the BJP and RSS.
Challenging the BJP MLA, Tejashwi Yadav said, “This country believes in Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb. The country believes in Ram-Rahim. This is Bihar. One Muslim will be protected by five Hindus. As long as our party and followers of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s ideology exist, we will not let them fulfill their agenda.”
