A video showcasing an unconventional doorbell has gone viral on social media, leaving netizens both amused and intrigued. Unlike traditional doorbells that require a physical press, this one operated via a QR code. No knock, no press, the innovative calling bell required persons at the doorstep to use their phones to scan the code and call the resident.

In the video, a woman fixed the QR code sticker on her door, enabling visitors to call her instead of knocking or pressing the bell when they arrived. The bell would require people to scan the code and place a call.

Take a look at the video

A woman was seen installing a compact, sleek board near her door. Instead of a button, the board carried a QR code that visitors needed to scan. She showed that once scanned, it initiated a call to the homeowner or the resident, notifying them of the visitor’s presence.

The Instagram user Vinshi Bansal shared the video online and called it the “Most unique door bell”. The clip promoted ‘DoorVi’, a company offering smart doorbell services. In her post, she wrote, “It helps u when u are not at home, busy while u are at home and also helps when u are sharing your home with someone”.

Internet reacts

However, netizens disapproved of the idea, suggesting the traditional doorbells were better and safer.

While this new model eliminated the need for wiring or conventional ringing mechanisms, making it a smart and modern alternative, it initiated a video call between the visitor and the resident.

People didn’t wish to get on a video chat with parcel delivery agents or milk providers who visited them often. Netizens also believed not many would engage in the time-consuming method of using the app and scanning the code to reach out to the residents.

“No one gonna to install app for video call”, one wrote. “The visitors don’t even have to install the app. They can just scan using the Camera app”, the company clarified.

“Danger, any chhapri would get direct access to connect on a video call. Need better secure solution”, a second user reacted.

“Waste of hard work, lack of smart work”, read another comment.

Meanwhile, a few users asked for the link to purchase this, expressing curiosity to try the new doorbell innovation.
