Former IPL president Lalit Modi surrendered his Indian passport and took citizenship of a small country Vanuatu. But now the Prime Minister of Vanuatu has given a shock to Lalit Modi. Vanuatu’s Prime Minister Jitoth Napat has asked the Citizenship Commission to cancel Lalit Modi’s passport with immediate effect. The Prime Minister said that I have instructed the Citizenship Commission to cancel Lalit Modi’s Vanuatu passport immediately.

 

Why will passport be canceled?

The Vanuatu government ordered the cancellation of Lalit Modi’s passport as he was not aware of Lalit Modi’s activities. Vanuatu’s Prime Minister Jyot Napat held a high -level meeting in this regard. There was a possibility that Lalit Modi would adversely affect Vanuatu’s Golden Passport Program. It was being said that countries like Europe can take action against Vanuatu.

On Friday, the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that the IPL founder has applied to renounce its Indian citizenship. Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said, “He has applied to submit his passport to the Indian High Commission in London.” It will be investigated on the basis of existing rules and procedures. We have also been told that he has obtained citizenship of Vanuatu. We will continue the matter against them according to the law. ” Lalit Modi fled India in 2010 and has been living in London since then.
