Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In a bid to maintain law and order ahead of upcoming Holi and Eid festivals, Bhopal Police conducted its 17th combing patrol, making over 1,000 arrests in just six hours. The overnight operation, carried out between March 8-9, led to the arrest of 429 permanent warrants, 378 arrest warrants and 236 bailed warrants, bringing the total number of arrests to 1,043.
Under the supervision of Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra and Additional Commissioner Awadhesh Goswami, over 1,000 officers were deployed across all four zones. The operation focused on apprehending absconding criminals, monitoring goons and miscreants and executing pending warrants.
Moreover, preventive action was taken against people carrying illegal weapons. The combing patrol is a recurring initiative by Bhopal Police to combat crime by targeting unresolved cases and serious offences, including murder, rape and fraud. So far, across 17 patrols, a total of 10,142 criminals have been arrested.
The initiative has played a crucial role in reducing crime rates, particularly those against women, while ensuring overall peace and security in the city. The latest operation, conducted from Saturday 11:00 PM to Sunday 5:00 AM, is part of a broader strategy to enhance safety during the festive season and beyond.
Bhopal Police plans to continue these patrols, reinforcing their presence to maintain law and order in the city.
Police chief reviews security arrangements
Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra convened a crucial meeting on Sunday with senior officers and police station in-charges to discuss security arrangements for the upcoming festivals, including Holika Dahan, Dhulendi, Rangpanchami, Chaitra Navratri, Ramzan and Eid-ul-Fitr.
The meeting focused on maintaining law and order, ensuring peace, and securing procession routes during the festive period. Officers were instructed to strengthen security measures, enhance vigilance, and promote peaceful celebrations in the spirit of harmony and brotherhood.As part of the strategy, discussions will also be held with Nagar Raksha Samiti, Shanti Samiti and local citizens to improve coordination and community engagement.
