Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Two boys drowned in a pond in an attempt to navigate heavy flow in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district on Thursday. The accident occurred around 4:30 PM, about 15 kilometers from district centre Manawar.
The accident occurred when two victims and two of their friends went to the local pond to take a swim. While swimming and trying to play in the water, the two slipped and went into deep water. The friends standing nearby saw this and rushed to call the villagers for help.
According to information, the deceased have been identified as 12-year-old Mohammad Hanif and 15-year-old Atif, both residents of Singhana village. They had gone to bathe in the canal with two other friends. While playing, they lost their grip on a rope and slipped into deep water, drowning instantly.
Two of their friends, who were standing nearby, rushed home to inform their families. Soon, a large crowd gathered at the spot. Locals jumped into the water and, after two hours of struggle, retrieved the boys’ bodies around 7 PM.
Father of the victim suffered heart attack
As soon as the information of the boys reached their families, they rushed to the spot. When they reached the spot, Atif’s father, Amjad (38), suffered a heart attack upon hearing the news of his son’s death. He was unable to recover and passed away.
