Kannauj: In a tragic incident reported from the Gursahaiganj police station area of Jalalabad, an under-construction wall collapsed on a couple, leaving the wife dead and the husband critically injured. The incident took place while the man was working on the wall, and his wife was sitting close by, as per a report by Bharat Samachar.
According to initial information, the husband was engaged in construction work on the raw wall when it suddenly gave way. The collapsing structure fell directly on his wife, burying her under the debris. Locals present at the scene rushed to rescue the couple and informed the police. Despite being pulled out and taken to a nearby hospital, the woman could not be saved.
The husband, who also sustained serious injuries in the collapse, was admitted to the district hospital, where his condition remains critical.
Police officials said they are investigating the incident and recording statements from witnesses and family members. Preliminary reports suggest that the wall was poorly constructed and may not have been stable enough to withstand the ongoing work.
As per Bharat Samachar, the couple belonged to a laborer family, making the tragedy even more devastating as they were working to build their own home. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the collapse and assess whether negligence played a role.
