Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Two schoolboys drowned while bathing in a pond in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur. The accident occurred in a pond in the Gopal Bagh, Kotwali police station area on Wednesday. The incident occurred after they played Holi and went to the pond to wash off the colours.
The victims, students of Tamarhai Higher Secondary School, had gone to the pond with two other friends. While two managed to come out safely, the other two drowned. As soon as the information of the drowning came forward, a team of SDERF and police arrived at the spot. An overnight search operation was conducted to find the drowned victims.
According to information, the victim, identified as Vaibhav Kori, a resident of Hanumantal, was a student of a local school in Jabalpur. According to sources, Kori and three of his friends were celebrating Holi in the area. After the celebrations, all four of them went to the nearby pond to wash off. Unfortunately, while bathing, Kori and one of his friends got stuck in the current of the water and drowned. The other two managed to get out and call the locals for help.
Locals found the children’s clothes, shoes, and some money near the pond. They immediately launched a search operation. After an overnight effort, the body of one boy, Vaibhav Kori, was recovered. The search for the second missing boy is still underway. Teams from the Home Guard and SDERF are continuing the rescue operation.
