Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has appointed Iyal Zameer as the new military chief. Zameer has vowed to destroy Hamas. Zamir joined the army in 1984. After completing the tank officer training course, he proceeded in ranks and commanded the 7th armored brigade in 2003 and the 36th armored division in 2009. Zameer has led Operation Rainbow and Operation Delegation.

Israel has appointed Iyal Zameer as its new military chief. Zamir has taken a tough stand against Hamas and vowed to end it. Earlier, he led large operations such as Operation Rainbow and Operation Deed of Penance. However, there are questions about their human rights records. Especially in relation to his repression on protesters in Gaza. More than 200 Palestinian extremists were killed in this operation. According to reports, Defense Minister Israel Katz, along with Netanyahu, had chosen Zameer for the post last month. He will lead all Israeli military operations including deployment in Gaza, Syria and Lebanon. Zameer has vowed to protect Israel and destroy its enemies.

Zamir’s name was considered twice for the post of Chief of Staff, but both times the responsibility was handed over to the outgoing Helvi and his predecessor Aviv Kohavi. Cinema joined the army in 1984 and served as a tank officer, commander of the 7th armored brigade in 2003 and commander of the 36th armored division in 2009. The important thing for his future success is that he was the military secretary of Netanyahu from 2012 to 2015. He was then the leader of the Southern Command of Israel for the next three years.

In its final year in the Southern Command, Israeli soldiers led by Zamir forced the Palestinian protesters from Gaza, who were participating in the Great March of Return. He killed more than 150 protesters and injured 10,000 others, including 1,849 children, 424 women, 115 paramedics and 115 journalists.
