The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made some changes in the rules for updating the profiles of the members. If the UAN is verified through Aadhaar, with recent new changes, EPF members can update their Aadhaar -linked Universal Account Number (UAN) with personal details without uploading any documents.
EPF members had to wait for 28 days to update their profiles
If the UAN is valid through Aadhaar, the EPF member can update his profile with personal information such as his name, date of birth, gender, nationality, father or mother’s name, matrimonial status, husband or wife’s name, date of joining and date of separation. Earlier, members had to take approval from their employer to update their profiles, which led to average of 28 days.
In this case, the permission of the employer will have to be obtained.
According to a statement by the EPFO, in FY 2024-25, about 45 percent of the total 8 lakh improvement requests received by EPFOs from employers will now be able to approve members themselves. Without the permission of the employer or EPFO. But it is worth noting that if the UAN has been released before 1 October 2017. Therefore, the approval of the employer will be required to update any type in the profile.

However, members must link their Aadhaar and PAN to their EPF account for any update or withdrawal. If there is a problem between EPF details and Aadhaar, approval may be delayed. In such a situation, it may take a few weeks based on the approval of the employer and EPFO.
How to update EPF profiles?
- First of all visit the portal of EPF official website www.epfindia.gov.in.
- Then fill in details like UAN number, password and captcha and log on to the member portal.
- After this, click on the above ‘Manage’ option in the menu.
- Click on the option ‘Modify Basic Details’.
- After this, enter personal details and submit according to your Aadhaar card.
- Track the profile update process using the ‘track request’ option.
